They haven’t known a world without interstate highways, rest stops, fast food drive thru windows, airports, jets, and rolling luggage. A visit to Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm in Olathe, Kansas puts into perspective how much travel has changed since the 19th century. The Mahaffie Farm was one of the stagecoach stops along the Santa Fe Trail. In fact, it is the last remaining stop on that route still open to the public and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Rhode Island – Fort Adams State Park

Here it is: the last post about the photos in my header. This is Fort Adams State Park in the state of Rhode Island. It’s been several years since we’ve been there, but this summer will be an even better time to visit than when we were there. Fort Adams is currently undergoing a $2 million restoration project.

Historic lighthouses can be found on both coasts, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Great Lakes. Today I’m featuring the Wind Point Lighthouse near Racine, Wisconsin. My husband grew up about a mile from this lighthouse, so we visited the lighthouse during one of our trips to Grandma’s house.
