Red Cliffs Lodge definitely ranks way up there in hotels with an amazing view. This gorgeous property is not far from Moab, Utah. While it is a bit of a drive from town, the amazing views more than make up for added driving time.
It’s easy to see where they got the inspiration for the hotel name.
We stayed in a double queen mini suite in the Creekside section. The rooms have outdoor corridors, but don’t let that turn you away. It’s very convenient to be able to drive right up to your door; plus, with this layout, […]
When we travel, I like to find the right balance between cultural learning opportunities and purely recreational activities. After a day and half of visiting museums and historic sites, I knew my kids were looking forward to spending the rest of the day at an amusement park. However, we live less than a half hour from a major amusement park and I wasn’t sure how impressed they would be with a smaller park. I shouldn’t have worried. My kids and I had a great time at Beech Bend Park & Splash Lagoon in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Admission to this family […]
Have you ever picked a vacation destination using Pinterest? I believe that Sand Harbor State Park on Lake Tahoe might be the first place I’ve visited after discovering it on Pinterest. It was this sunset photo by Joshua Cripps that made me want to go there. What I didn’t realize at the time was that this photo was taken in January. After visiting there last summer I discovered that there is no way Joshua Cripps could have taken this photo in the summer because there would be too many people in the way! As with many of our country’s awe-inspiring […]
We visited 101 attractions last summer (literally!) and I can honestly say that Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore ranks way up there as one of my kids’ favorites.
It was about a 40-minute drive from the Bayshore Resort in Traverse City to Sleeping Bear Dunes, where we spent the day. Our first stop was the Dune Climb.
The Dune Climb was undoubtedly the favorite part for my older two kids. Before you start the climb, you should consider how long you might want to hike the dunes. From the parking lot, you can see only the first hill, […]
Our trip through Nevada was a short one, with not many stops. Visiting Lake Tahoe was a must for us and the representatives from Tahoe South recommended that we stop at Round Hill Pines Beach & Marina which they consider to be a hidden gem for families. We were game.
Round Hill Pines is open in the summer only and has a sandy beach and water sports available. The parking fee ranges from $8-10. You can either bring your own chairs and tents or rent them there. The sand was grainy and pebbly–not the best for building sand castles. […]
