I simply can’t imagine a more colorful hotel than the Inn @ Northrup Station in Portland, Oregon. This place says fun from the moment you walk in the door. While I checked in, my kids relaxed in the breakfast area. The centerpiece on each table was a vase filled with colorful candies. What kid wouldn’t like that? (Fruit was also available, BTW.)
We took the elevator up to our floor. The funky floors and walls were a hint of the kind of furnishings we’d find inside. The inn is decorated with fun and funky artwork by local artists.
The Inn @ Northrup Station has two types of suites: a King Suite and a Double Queen Suite. We had the latter. It has two queen-size beds and a sofa sleeper that opens up into a twin bed–perfect for our family of five. The beds are very comfortable with lots of pillows, as you can see.
The sitting area is bright and colorful.
Pops of color appear all over the suite. Extra rolls of toilet paper are wrapped in brightly colored tissue paper. The kitchenette area has a green toaster (along with a microwave, dishwasher, small refrigerator, and coffee maker).
The suites also have a nice desk area.
The King Suites are similar, but have a full kitchen with a stove and full-size refrigerator.
Complimentary continental breakfast and wireless internet are included with your stay.
As the name suggests, the inn is located along the Portland Streetcar line. We didn’t have an opportunity to try the streetcar, but you can request free tickets when you check in. Free parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. We came back to the hotel rather late in the evening and had to park on the street a couple blocks away. That was the only negative that we experienced.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Northrup Station and found it to be an easy drive to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) and other attractions in Portland.
