The Illusion Fusion Magic Show in the South Lake Tahoe area is a very popular show. I was not familiar with the star, Alex Ramon, but the reviews I found online were glowing. I mentioned it to my sister and she told me that she had seen Alex in a performance at her local library a few years ago and enjoyed it very much. So I was very happy when the PR Agency for the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority offered to arrange for complimentary tickets for my family. The show is performed nightly, except Wednesdays, at 8 p.m. at the Horizon Casino in Stateline, Nevada, in the South Lake Tahoe area. One important thing to know is that although tickets are sold in advance, seating is first-come first-served. Although we arrived in plenty of time, there was a snafu with our reservation which took quite a while to resolve, so we ended up with seats in the back. Still, the theater is small and I don’t think any of the seats could be considered bad. Here was the view from our seats. We found Alex Ramon to have an extremely likeable stage presence. He was funny and engaging and his show is very family friendly. There is no need to be concerned about bringing kids. He might even include them in his act. And speaking of audience participation, Alex includes a lot of it in his show. He had quite a time with this volunteer. Even I raised my hand to volunteer and he took my wedding ring and joined it with two others. I’m sorry the picture came out blurry. Alex also performed many sleight of hand tricks. And, keeping up with the latest technology, he even used an iPad in one of his tricks. Some of his tricks involved an assistant, such as this one in which there appeared to be a hole in the middle of her. He came out into the audience for some of his tricks. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the show and I would recommend it. After the show, you can meet Alex and his assistant and purchase a DVD for your aspiring magicians that teaches them some tricks.
While in South Lake Tahoe, we stayed at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel where I received a discounted rate.
This hotel is on the border between California and Nevada and within walking distance of Illusion Fusion and other attractions.
The hotel was previously owned by Embassy Suites and you can tell that from its layout with an open atrium.
The rooms are all suites which worked great for my family of five. One room had two queen-size beds and the living area had a sofa with a pullout bed. It also had a table with four chairs and a microwave and refrigerator.
The hotel offers a complimentary hot breakfast buffet, an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, and fitness center. WiFi is available, but not complimentary. We did not arrive early enough to take advantage of the complimentary happy hour.
